Rooney & Co in the Community
At Rooney & Co we do not consider ourselves to be typical estate agents as we strongly believe in giving something back to the community.
As part of the Arun Estate Agencies Group we are delighted to be part of a network of 123 associated branches all dedicated to the support of less privileged children and children suffering will ill-health and often life threatening illnesses. Even though we are the largest independent estate agency in the South East of England we still consider ourselves to be part of a big family. Many members of our team are parents and fortunate enough to have children who possess a fit bill of health. Therefore we are keen to ensure that all our work in the community is put towards helping children with special needs.
Across the company we work with many charities, some nationally recognised and others perhaps more known on a local basis; but all of which carry out amazing work to care for, support and assist children and their families. We are delighted to be able to offer them support from donating funds to sponsor a nurse, donating a VW beetle to help a nurse get to her patients or simply helping to raise extra funds through our customers and the general public.
Here are just a few of the charities we work with:
Macmillan Cancer Support
Macmillan Cancer Support improves the lives of people affected by cancer. They provide practical, medical, emotional and financial support and push for better cancer care.
Rainbow Trust Children's Charity
Rainbow Trust Children's Charity provides practical and emotional support to over 1000 families a year who have a child with a life threatening or terminal illness.
With two respite houses in Surrey and Northumberland they provide a break for the whole family, allowing them to spend precious time together as a family.Rainbow Trust's Family Support Workers join the family in their own home and are there to provide whatever practical support is needed. They may attend hospital appointments with parents, sit by the bedside of the sick child to give parents a break and take worried siblings out for the day. Rainbow Trust supports families for as long as they need us - from diagnosis, through the illness and beyond.
Chris Nathan one of the Senior Operations Directors at Cubitt & West explains why the Rainbow Trust was chosen as our nominated charity. Being a father with two children of my own, who are fortunate to be in excellent health, I was keen to support a charity that focused it's efforts on helping and aiding terminally ill kids. It was a breath of fresh air to meet Jo Harris at The Rainbow Trust who had given up her high flying career to help the children and I also found all the staff and carers polite and very genuine. We are dedicated to providing support so that our contribution will have the greatest impact to Rainbow House.
Our support to this wonderful charity includes a donation of £40,000 to sponsor a nurse to provide additional support in the Surrey area. In addition 8 team members have decided to tackle the London to Paris Bike Ride during 29th June to 2nd July 2007, a grueling cycle ride of 290 miles in just 3 days. Plus, if that’s not enough of a feat the same team are planning to then cycle from London to Southampton only a few weeks later. So if you would like to sponsor our team, please contact your local Cubitt & West office to add your support.

Haven House Foundation
Haven House Foundation operates in North and East London, West Essex and East Hertfordshire, to provide short term respite and hospice care for children aged between 0 – 19 years who have a life-limiting or life-threatening condition. In addition they also provide valuable practical and emotional support for the families of their patients.
The Rockinghorse Appeal
In 2006 Wyatt & Son adopted The Rockinghorse Appeal as their chosen charity. The appeal is an independent, locally-based charity which raises money to help provide urgently needed equipment and services for children’s medical facilities in Sussex – especially Brighton’s Royal Alexandra Hospital, the only specialist children’s hospital in the region.
